(McSpotlight: This time, I caught the DR fecking around, so I'm reposting the message Stuart sent us...):: When was the last time you saw heterosexuals get their skulls caved in with iron bars just for being heterosexual?
The act of homosexuality is intrinsically disgusting to the average
man, not because of some latent fear of rape or any other psychobabble
explanation. It is because of an innate desire to procreate which is
given to us by God or instilled through eons of evolution. Certain men
act out their disgust. Others practice civility. Homosexuals have the
right to live without fear of abuse but have no right to be accepted as
normal. They are not normal. They are sexually aberrant humans.
Biblically, to have homosexual tendencies is no sin. To act on them is.
Obviously it is intolerant to beat up gays. That fits in with the
classic definition of the word intolerance. No sincere Christian does
this. I suppose plenty of pretenders have done this in the name of
Christ. Let's don't characterize sincere Christians as gay bashers.
To work to produce an environment where homosexuality is considered
normal, acceptable behavior is to work against natural law and
bibilical law. This is the objective of the gay rights movement. Gays
have had rights that protect them against violence, oppression, and
discrimination for quite some time. But these things are not the bottom
line for many gays. You see, if one feels compelled to psychoanalyze
things, a good case can be made for the dysfunction of homosexuals. I
personally believe that gays seek self-affirmation from society for
their behavior because they know, in their hearts, they desire more
than their own resigned acceptance of their condition. If we say it's
OK to be gay, maybe then they can feel better about who they are. Some
of the support for the flaming, in your face, displays come
from gays who would never consider doing this kind of thing themselves
but recognize the impact that the gay activists have had on public
opinion. Although somewhat polarizing, the gay rights parades serve to
desensitize the public to these images which will, in turn, cause more
and more people to accept homosexuality as a viable lifestyle choice.
The problem with this is that the flaming homosexual is generally a
very ammoral person who prances for reasons other than acceptance. More
often than not, that person is out there to tweak and offend. If I
hadn't worked in West L.A. and known half a dozen of these guys I'd
never say it. But I did and I'm here to say I wasn't dealing with a
group of well balanced individuals.
I think the best attitude to have regarding homosexuality is to allow
that each person on this planet has his or her own particular set of
temptations to deal with and the character of that person can be
determined by how he or she deals with it. Succumbing to tempatation
and attempting to hide it (staying quiet in the closet) is more
admirable than flaunting your perversion and attempting to shove it in
the face of those who disapprove. But the best choice would be to
recognize and confront the issue and take whatever steps you can to
curb this abnormal activity and remove the temptation.
I'm one step away from saying I have no judgment of homosexuality as
long as it is done in private. I can't take that last step because I
really believe being homosexual (practicing) stands as an impediment
happiness. This viewpoint is founded on the practicle experience
mentioned before of dealing first hand with so many men who were so
obviously hurting. I'd like them not to hurt but it takes a sincere
desire to address what is actually wrong, not a pat on the head and an
affirmation that we love them no matter who they are. It may be true
that we love them but that doesn't make them normal, which in the long
run is how they wish to feel. I know the obvious reply to this is that
if society didn't put them in that defensive position they might be
happier. I find that argument circular. I woud also argue that any form
of aberrant behavior could be justified by that argument if valid.
