Day 054 - 24 Nov 94 - Page 11

MS. STEEL: So, this is not the complete details of the study?
       A. No, this is a summary picture which, broadly, again
shows the dominance of cereals, confectionery and fast-food
comes in at 14 per cent in this particular study.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have not actually found it yet. It is
       1994, is it?

  THE WITNESS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have a series which have fax dates in late
       November last year.

MR. RAMPTON: I wonder whether your Lordship would like to have
the original? It is very much easier to read. It is about
       three times the size.

MS. STEEL: I think we did hand a copy in but perhaps it has got
       put somewhere else.

MR. MORRIS: It is in the files behind Sue Dibb. It is No. 3
behind Sue Dibb's references as well -- behind her
       statement.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, it is before one gets to the lettered
tabs. I have put mine immediately behind the statement
without any tabs. It either has an N or 3 on it -- I think
it is 3 -- top right-hand corner. As I say, it is very
       difficult to read.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, it is obviously just the way I have put
things in or someone has for me. Immediately after
Ms. Dibb's statement, I go to A: "Children: Advertisers'
       Dream, Nutrition Nightmare?"

MS. STEEL: That should be right and then it should be behind
       that, I would have thought.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Then I go to B: "Consumer check out".

MS. STEEL: It is the third one of that type of magazine; it is
       October 1994.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think it has not come through to me, but
never mind, I have an original now. So, carry on.

THE WITNESS: This presents a summary of a third survey that was
carried out in June this year.

MS. STEEL: This is on page 14?
       A. Sorry, the results are on page 15. Whilst this is a
summary and the full results will be published, this
illustrates the very broadly similar picture of children's
food advertising as the previous surveys have found.
McDonald's is listed there as one of the top ten
advertisers. It was, in fact, second -- the same position
       as the survey in 1992.

  Q. I think in this one Burger King is also in the top ten. Do
you happen to know whether they were in the top five or
