     6        (To the witness)  In other words, when McDonald's says it
     7        supports the recommendations of the Health of the Nation
     8        pamphlet, it does not extend to any actual action as
     9        regards your department?
    10        A.  In terms of advertising?

    13        A.  In terms of advertising, we would follow any of the
    14        guidelines that are currently laid down in the Code of
    15        Practice for Advertising.

    17   Q.   The ITC Code of Practice?
    18        A.  That being the one that is prevailing at the present.

    20   Q.   You would have to do that, anyway, would not you?
         A.  Of course.

    23   MR. MORRIS:   But in terms of----

    25   MR. JUSTICE BELL:  Mr. Morris, I cannot help you more than I
    26        have.  Why do you not just ask him if he has ever seen the
    27        Health of the Nation, or any kind of memorandum sent around
    28        to his department or to him, drawing attention to anything
    29        in the Health of the Nation.  If the answer to that is
    30        "no", then everything else is comment, and you could say
    31        it shows how skin deep this is, and Mr. Rampton can say,
    32        "Well, it does not actually say anything about advertising
    33        as such", and I will have to decide.

    35   MR. MORRIS:  Well, I think we have established that.  You have
    36        not seen any memos drawing your attention----

    39        the Nation?
    40        A.  No, I have not.

    42   Q.   So far as you are aware, was any copy of the Health of the
    43        Nation or any summary of it, or any memorandum in relation
    44        to it, distributed in the Marketing department?
    45        A.  I cannot personally recall it now.

    47   MR. MORRIS:  Are you aware that the ITC Code -- if you go to the
    48        ITC pamphlet, page 13 of the May 1993 Health and Hygiene
    49        section, point 11; do you see?
    50        A.  Yes, I have got it.

    53        A.  Not in detail.

    55   Q.   Are you aware that there are now proposals to change this
    56        code?
    57        A.  I have heard of a discussion document that is out, yes.
