Q. So an enormous amount of promotional activity went into the
McLean Deluxe as a healthier option, less fat than
other-----
A. Yes.

Q. ----items?
A. Less fat percentage than others.

Q. Why did not the same amount of promotion, say, go into
salads?
A. I think when salads were introduced we had the same
type of promotion.

Q. You had the same?
A. Yes, absolutely. There was a major promotional
activity.

Q. You spent as many advertising dollars as on the
McLean Deluxe?
A. Again, I cannot tell you specifically for sure but, to
me, it would be comparable.

Q. When you say, in point 4, "Coincidentally, we should
seriously consider the wisdom of officially talking about
salad in test", what does "salad in test" mean?
A. I believe, at this time period, salads were only in

system. So they were being tested -- sort of like the
pizza that we chatted about the other day.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you are going to talk about it, you have
to do it; that is what they are saying there?
A. Sorry?

Q. "If we are going to talk about it, we have to do it"?
A. Talk -- I am confused. I am sorry. Talk about what?

MR. MORRIS: Salads in tests.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: "If we are going to talk about salads, we do
not just want to talk about testing them, we want to go
system wide", as they say, "as soon as possible"?
A. Yes.

Q. It is counter productive to talk about bringing in salads
in this diet, health conscious age, and then not produce
them?
A. That is correct.

MR. MORRIS: It says on that:

"I think we can gain credibility, and even praise, for
talking about it and indicating a willingness to go system
wide ASAP."

So you do not have to be in conflict with nutritional
critics. This is something which presumably-----?
A. I would think that nutritionists-----
