: I realize there is value in everryones work. But does that mean that someone working in a fast food restaurant should get a the same wage as someone in lets say in the computer industry just simply because the fast food workers labour is somewhat harder, than the person who sits in front of a computer, even though that person had to go to college or university for years to be able to sit in front of that computer. Thats true enough under current conditions, though teh higher wage usually reflects the rarity of teh skill, and paying back the costs of education (either via tax or through debt) of the education- though there are plenty of people, Estate Agents spring to mind, who get higher wages than I as a Graduate on the jobs market. Also, if a person gets more satisfaction doing Computer work, why shouldn't they get the wage of someone else doing less satisfying work. Wahat about them as clean the sewers? Or generally shovel shit? Should they be paid less that a college graduate, I don't think so. their work is damned useful and we ought to be gateful to them, and not stamp on them and drive their wages down.
: Lets face it, at mcd's you get your initial training in 3-4 shifts, many other folks have gone to college or university for years to work in their occupations. The pay scale should reflect this, and I for one think it does.
Yeah, but college graduates are being robbed as well.
: As far as the owners stealing from us. So just because a person or persons has helped build a company from the ground up to be very succesful, this makes them a thief?
It does if they did it off the back of others labour, and kept teh proffits and the benefits for themself. Imagine, a real theif, he can make a real business taking property other people have 'earned' and saved for. He works hard at it, faces the stress and danger, learns teh skills. Surely he too deserves reward for his hard work?
:Isn't that a lot of peoples dream, to own their own company, build it, make it grow and yes reap the benefits of it. I think the biggest problem with alot of people in this debating room and web site is that they are jealous they didn't think of it first!! So the underlying fact is, if you can't have a piece of the pie, destroy it.
I don't want a ppiece of the pie, I want the whole damn pie factory, and I want to share it with my friends, with everyone, and see everyone happy, not forced to grind and compete with one another to get some of that. I'm not jealous of folk, like Stuart Gort, who have their own busienss, I'm resentful that they reap what others sow.
