: Forget it, have you even noticed who you are fighting?? McDonalds is going to be around for ages, just let it be. Hypothetically speaking, if you did manage to shut down only a few stores, think of all those innoscent people who would be out of a job, they are just trying to earn a living in these hard times, if you really want to fight for something (you can't win) there are many other causes such as ridding the world of nuclear weapons, housing the homeless, feeding the hungry, stopping the wars that are going on. Don't create the war, end it!!!Speaking personally, I'm not trying to shut a few stores. I'm trying to shut down the entire organization - we could use the empty stores as veggie or vegan eateries (and they might then sell food for the first time in their existences!).
As for other causes, the world's hungry would be served a lot better if the Western world's taste for meat got cured. Do you have any idea how wasteful the production of meat is, or the amount of suffering that goes on in the meat industry, or how bad for your health meat is if consumed in the amounts McD's wants you to consume it?
Check the evidence
Is it right or wrong to work quietly under an obnoxious and immoral company "just to earn a living"? Is it right to risk your job (or lose your job) because you're not prepared to put up with the unethical and repressive practices of your employer?
Bryan and Jamal have acted, in my opinion, very bravely. All they have tried to do is use their citizen's rights; both as US citizens and members of a country that espouses the UN Declaration of Universal Human Rights. I hope it comes off well for them - they have shown considerably more courage in "sticking their necks out" than the people who just submit quietly have done.
Indeed, if there's a commendable tradition in the US, it's having the courage to say "enough, we will not lend our support to these masters, we will work to better the status quo". Call it the Revolutionary spirit. And Bryan and Jamal have displayed a hell of a lot more of it than you.
Of course, there's not much I personally can do against McD's that I'm not already doing; of course I'll be at any local picket that's going on, I'll be spreading the word as hard as I can, but I think it's really worth fighting on this one, as McD's position on unions is truly criminal.
To finish off, here's a relevant quote...
