: Obviously you are in the minority since wal-mart is the number one retail company in the WORLD! Wal-Mart also employs more associates than anyone else in the world except for the US Government so it must be a pretty good place to work. The number of employees does not indicate that a company is a good place to work. People take jobs because they need money to survive. It isn't always possible to have a choice as to where we work. Wal-Mart epitomizes how predatory many big retailers have become. Our community said no to Wal-Mart four years ago and they are still trying to bully their way in. A community has no choice in the matter anymore.
While it's fine to say, "if you don't like it, don't shop there", the smaller, locally owned stores where many people DO prefer to shop, may eventually go out of business, forcing us to shop at places like Wal-Mart. It is destroying our communities.
: If you only knew how many many charities and causes Wal-Mart gives BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars to, you would support it even if you did not like shopping there.
If companies like Wal-Mart weren't so predatory, then maybe they wouldn't need to be giving billions and billions of dollars to charities and causes. There's nothing more humiliating for people than to be forced into relying on charity for things that should be basic human rights, like housing, food and medical care.
And then there's the contributions that all the locally owned businesses make to a community that disappear when Wal-Mart comes to town. It's a shame that this huge corporation has become our like our saviour.
None.
