This is in response to Thop HR (or what ever your name is). I have had direct experiance with animal testing, and for one, I can say that it is not as cruel as people would have you believe. I am not talking about cosmetic research, but mainly medical research. You stated in your follow up that scientists can use computers to do the research for them. This is not accurate. A computer is not capable of telling the researcher how a particular chemical will react in a living biological system. Our present technology is not advanced enough thus far. I do not care if you want to argue that animal testing is horribly cruel and that it should be stoped. It has done too much for us in the medical research feild to be put down by someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. I have several pets, whom I love very much, but my experiances with animal testing (rats) in a legitimate research institute have prooved those who claim that scientists "throw away" the animals at the end of the day. The animals are given cages, food, and water to sustain life. When the time comes when they must be killed, they are injected with the same kind of anesthetic which humans might experiance if undergoing surgery. The animals are checked to make sure that they will not be able to feel any pain before the operation starts. I will admit that I did feel compassion for these animals, but for now, there is no other way to find cures for illnesses. This was just an informative letter, sorry it's so long.
