I have been a Mcdonalds employee for over a year, and am a member of the service squad (crew special trained for their skills in customer service, (not spellinge)). The correct response to your request was to offer you either
A) A bottle of mineral water for an extra 60 pence (probably a dollar)
or
B) A regular cup of (purified) tap water with ice for no extra cost.

PLEASE DONT POUR THE SOFT DRINK ON THE COUNTER - YOUR JUST PUNISHING THE CREW, AND ITS A PIAN IN THE ASS TO CLEAN!!!
