seek out things that are free

Many years ago (25 or more) I was in the same shoes. I know you probably do not believe this now, but the years fly by and you really do reap what you sow. Spend quality time with your children. Some people have so much they throw good things away. Your children do not need all they ask for. What they really need is your time. Encourage them to do well in school and seek out things that are free, i.e., the library, walking with them,etc. Good luck to you and your children.
