SHAUN: Well, I went to public school my whole life and I turned out OK. In fact, growing up, I only had one friend who went to a private school (Catholic school) and he was no different than the public school people I knew. I went to public school and I loved it. And so will my kids.DADDIO: Uh....dude, I hate to be the one to break this to you, but you are NOT "ok". Your writing is at about a 5th grade level, but because you think you've been around long enough to "turn out" to be something, I'd guess that you are probably a highschool student. Pretty sad. But don't feel TOO bad, you're in good company. You are probably every bit as literate as most of your ninth grade class.
Your thoughts are disjointed and your mind seems rather foggy. You seem to have close to zero knowledge of the public school system to which you belong and may not even be intelligent enough to absorb such knowledge anyway. Who knows how old the public school system is? Lot's of people, dude. If you can tie your own shoes, you can look it up in a few seconds (maybe a minute) on the Internet or in an encyclopedia.
Its not some unsolvable mystery. But you have a public school education, so you how could you know any better. Besides, shouldn't you ALREADY know some basic facts about this institution? You've been there almost everyday for most of your life. Haven't they gotten around to teaching you anything about its origins and history? Why not? Aren't the teachers proud of public education? Couldn't they spend one lousy day out of 12 years telling you something about the institution that is primarily responsible for molding your mind and your life? I guess not.
And what kind of a parent would have their kids spend most of their childhoods in an enviroment they have done little or no research on whatsoever? Sounds like pretty irresponsible parenting to me. But then again, as you say, schools aren't teaching right from wrong anymore either, so how could you be expected to know that its wrong to let everybody else do your thinking for you?
Your head is a muddle mess because a muddle mess is what your school is designed to produce. I feel very sorry for you. All I can do from this computer terminal is promise you that the perpetrators of this horrible crime against humanity will come to a just fate (if they have not already), and pray that I am talking to either a 2nd grader or a reincarnation of Horace Mann paying a karmic debt as a victim of his own creation.
