legalization of marijuana

If we legalize for the reasons of freedom of choice, and that the effects aren't that worse than alcolhol, what is stopping us from saying that of other drugs compared to marijuana. If we legalize now, the future is screwed and the war on drugs will be lost for our future children.(age 17.)
