And thus these evetns are already 'covered' by laws such as those who would find a man guilty for hitting you. but it isnt for you to 'discuss' with him what he should do with his hands prior to that.

: No, he can deploy his skills as he pleases, may make what he pleases, hoowever, since the things he makes them of and with do not belong to him, more properly he cannot claim to own his produce.

You have agreed with my earlier statement. "since the things he makes them of and with do not belong to him" includes his mind - the engine of all production. He is a slave beholden to all. Even allowing the mind to belong to him result in defacto slavery to the 'all' in that he unable to act without the permisission of 'all' to interact with other matter.

: But my primary knowledge of self, a lá Jacque Lacan's mirror stage, is via others- in that I only recognise that I have self through reflection, seeing myself mirrored in others. I may have the 'direct *experiences*', and sensory inputs, but I can only make sense of them through the symbollic/observable structures around me, and through teh actions of others.

This doesnt change the original proposition.

: Hmmm, that may be an English attitude to work- people want to be able to work to fulfill their desires, but end up in fast food places, doing temp work, etc,. until they get their 'real' career, etc.

Maybe it is. Of English people I have known most perceive work as an integral part of their lives rather than an invasion. They dont have to enjoy it to acknowledge its role in meeting their goals ofcourse.
