You have agreed with my earlier statement. "since the things he makes them of and with do not belong to him" includes his mind - the engine of all production. He is a slave beholden to all. Even allowing the mind to belong to him result in defacto slavery to the 'all' in that he unable to act without the permisission of 'all' to interact with other matter.

I may have the 'direct *experiences*', and sensory inputs, but I can only make sense of them through the symbollic/observable structures around me, and through teh actions of others.

Maybe it is. Of English people I have known most perceive work as an integral part of their lives rather than an invasion. They dont have to enjoy it to acknowledge its role in meeting their goals ofcourse.
