: Don, we have to agree to disagree on what happened in Kosovo, otherwise we'll go back and forth forever.

Don: The Spanish and the Canadian forensics experts sent to Kosovo agreed that no more than about 2,000 remains were recovered from graves, and that the bodies were a mixed bag of Albanians and Serbs, and that they died from a number of causes (some natural, and some seem to be victims of the KLA). The fact is that there is no evidence of genocide in Kosovo. The facts simply don't support you.

: : : As to your other point, about who decides when genocide or other atrocities occur: that's an excellent question, and of course it will always come down to human judgement, but hopefully it will be a decision made by representatives from the international peacekeeping force, based upon recommendations from their elected, civilian authorities.

: : Don: I think a better plan is: countries do not meddle in the internal affairs of other countries. Let's leave Serbia, and Russia, and Somolia, and all other such places alone.

: My question: would you have taken that stance while Hitler was exterminating Jews in Germany? At some point -- and genocide is a good point -- good people have to intervene in the affairs of other countries. At least, that's what I think.

Don: Again, there is no evidence that genocide occured in Kosovo.

Don: I fully believe we should stay out of the internal affairs of other nations. Only when a nation threatens other nations does it become a concearn. The genocide of the Jews began in 1942, after Germany had invaded Poland, the low countries, France, and the USSR. The reason for fighting Germany was the threat she posed to other nations, not her internal policies. That is how it should be. I don't want other nations (or UN officials) to have a say in internal US affairs, and likewise I don't think we should have a say the the internal affairs of other nations.
