: : I thought this was a pretty clever post from another website regarding christianity (of course I'm going to hell just for having noticed it. Ah well.) :: : "Fundamentalist (legalist) Christians are working on getting laws passed to "return" the U.S. to "Christian morality". If they succeed to the degree they desire, they will, in effect, BE the government. On the other hand, we are hearing how the End-times will have the government forcing people to "accept the mark of the beast" in order to get food, fuel, etc... If both of these scenarios do come into being, would that not make the legalistic Christians into "the beast" they so adamantly warn against?"
: Actually, people go the Hell because they refuse to accept Christ as their personal Savior. Those who repent of their sin and accept Christ receive the gift of eternal life. Nothing else makes a difference either way.
: Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
: Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Damn, I have nothing to look forward to now! Despite all my charitable works, as a Jew who does not believe Christ is my saviour, I'm going to hell -- heck, I may as well rob a bank! And my poor wife, who volunteers as a lawyer for abused and neglected children and who is the kindest person I know is bound for hell too because as a lapsed Catholic, she is spiritual but doesn't look to Christ as her savior. And my parents and sisters and all my other Jewish friends and their families, people who are kind and decent, they're going to fry too. And my Hindu friend who is also a decent and kind person is going to fry too. And the Dalai Lama, and...well, you get the picture.
What a shame that all these people who lead decent lives and strive to help others are going to hell. It's too bad we're all not a gang of murderous rapist torturers who lead lives of sin, but repent on our death beds and accept Christ, thereby gaining a ticket to heaven.
