DDN: If I were forced to choose between rescuing a pig from certain death or a human from certain death (the kind of choice that virtually no one is forced to make their entire lifetime), 9 times out of 10 I'd probably rescue the human. That doesn't mean I think humans inherently have more of a right to life and freedom from suffering than pigs do, the specieist tag you are trying to pin on me. It simply means
that, being human myself, on an emotional level, I can RELATE to the human's suffering MORE than I can to the pig's. And even in this scenario I can easily think of cases where I'd feel much better about
myself if I rescued the pig. In a side by side comparison, I don't see any LOGICAL reason to favor pigs over humans; I see only the EMOTIONALY charged reason that other humans look more like ME than pigs do. THAT'S specieism and that's the mentallity I see you attempting to veil with your overly inflated sympathy for the Hopi's barbaric eagle torture ritual, a scenario baring no resemblance to my rediculously gratuitous pig/human example (unless, of course, someone can prove to me that Hopis will suffer greater pain than the eagles if they are not allowed to torture the eagles to death).
