The Lesson from the Fig Tree

If you have ever studied the history of the Christian church, you will understand that part of Revelations has already come to pass.

"Write therefore, what you HAVE SEEN, what IS NOW and what will take place LATER." Rev.1:19

From the severe persecution of the church in the beginning stages through to the dark ages, where the gospel was nearly lost to now. All seven letters were warnings.

200 years ago, the book of Revelation was a mystery to all. Partly because of the technology back then. Most of the things John describes were not yet invented such as chemical warfare, airplanes, etc. But to the 20 century reader, the book makes perfect sense. In the book of Daniel which holds the same prophecies as Revelation, God says to Daniel "Go your way because the words are closed up and sealed until the end of time." Basically the knowledge of the book of Revelation and Daniel was not meant to be understood until it started unfolding before the last generation's very eyes. From the increase of natural disasters, to the threat of nuculear and chemical and germ warfare, to the persecution of Christians in 3rd world countries, to the increase of knowledge through computers, to the increase of senseless violence. You said yourself that you know a country is in deep trouble when they have to pass a law to prevent the recreational pleasure of cruching animals. Was this a moral issue even 50 years ago? These days are like never before my friend and every year they get worse.

We have been lulled into a false sense of security in Canada and the US especially. We have this notion that the white picket fence still protects the fabric of our moral society because were so brainwashed by hours of TV that the crazy times we live in don't even register in our realities. We ASSUME that someday some new age way of thinking is going to come along and all will be enlightened and learn to live in peace and harmony. Unity can only be accomplished through one purpose and one truth. Because of fallen humanity and it's desire for itself the chances of this happening is zero. Eventually we'll all have to be let in on this truth. I can't really see the purpose of this insanity going on for eternity. Eventually the one who purposed and created all will have to return before we blow eachother up. So the idea of Jesus Christ returning isn't such a bizzare concept if you honestly take a look at your own fallen nature and the state of the world as a whole.

"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree. As soon as it's twigs get tender and it's leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." Matthew 24:32
