HaP: "when you talk of video games it reminds me of the fact that my granfather hunted when he was younger. He never had video games he lived in Italy and like most other people he hunted, mainly for food because they were so poor. There were no video games yet he still hunted and he passed hunting on to my father who passed it on to me."I did not mean to suggest that violent video games CAUSED hunting, but that they influence one another to a degree. Certainly not every hunter plays Doom, nor is the reverse true. As I said, if hunting is a subsistence thing, I more or less get it, but can you explain why you would go to all the work if it was only for subsistence, when gardening is so much more efficient?
HaP: "If you would like to know what on earth about hunting gets me so jazzed I can't tell you. It is not an experiece which can be described with words. Most of hunting sucks. As a duck hunter waking up in the morning to go into freezing cold weather isn't fun. However when your sitting in a duck blind with your father and a flock of ducks fly overhead it is something incredable."
Funny, I can get the exact same experience WITHOUT a gun, and know what? The ducks like me better than they like you.
HaP: "You sayed in a different world with different laws this boy could possible enjoy killing humans instead of animals. However hunters don't kill people. If a hunter is brought up right and is taught respect like I was there is no way they would take a human life."
So what you are saying is you respect humans but not animals, because you don't kill humans but do kill animals. That's nice. Know what? There are a lot of people out there (I'm glad to hear you are not one of them) who do not respect certain other human elements of society. For example, people who are racist or sexist. Many of these people already have no problem killing these humans whom they see as less than human. Many more among these DO NOT kill humans, but they might if the laws were different.
"Hunters may have the ability to kill people but hunting isn't about the killing. It's about the experience."
So why do you kill? Just for food? Does it sadden you when you kill an animal, or does it make you happy? Being completely honest here, when you feel happy about it, is it because you have food to eat or is it a conquest thing?
