: So war's unpleasant that's why it's war not peace.: Would you leave the Kosovars to merciless violence?
--------
This is like asking: "Have you stopped beating your wife?"
First I would determine if possible the "truth" of atrocities. Were you appalled by the Racak Massacre? It has proved to be a fabrication. Were you as outraged as Amnesty International at the "barbaric Iraqis" throwing babies out of incubators? It too was a fabrication by the PR firm Hill & Knowlton. How about those pictures of regugees behind barbed wire. Fabrication. How about Rudder Finn - PR firm bragging it had changed the population's view of the Serbs by associating them with the Nazis. And there are more - including the supposed Serb bombing of the Muslim market in Bosnia). There is nothing so strong as a weeping testimonial but, as I have posted elsewhere, our emotions are being cynically manipulated by people who have other agendas.
Second- I would try to discover if my "medicine" was doing more harm than good. In this case it seems obvious, as it is in the case of Iraq. How do you measure terrorism? How can you claim the the slower death and disease from polluted water & malnutritian from bombing the infrastructure of a country to the stone age is any less terror than that claimed by the refugees? 5000 children a month seems like a pretty good measure of "terror" to me.
Third - I would try to discover the aims of Both sides to the conflict. Unfortunately this takes a bit of reading, but there are places on the net where the history and economic concerns can be found. Unfortunately few take the time to look past yesterdays headlines.
