: Gideon, dear chap,: I've never seen you so wound-up before.
Funny, I was totally calm when I posted that; as I am now.
: : Define "Imperial Communist", Robert; don't you know that communists don't have heirarchies as such; thus the idea of a communist Empire is inherently autocontradictory?
: In writing the communist theorises equality but in practice he is Imperial. Do you not recognise the carnal subjugation yourself?
Could you speak plainly and define your terms? How does does Marxism have anything to do with carnality?
(Except in a negative sense; Marxists will happily tell you that one of the best things about a Marxist society is that nobody gets fucked over...)
:
: : It might be worth clarifying my position on ecological disaster; I don't believe that humanity is doomed;
: That's a big turn-around from your previous rhetoric. Perhaps we can all sleep a little better now.
No. If you examine all of my posts, I've made it clear that global warming is merely the end of the world we know.
Since you mention it, though, extreme global warming could be the end of carbon-based life on Earth, if the Earth follows a similar path to Venus, which suffered from a runaway Greenhouse Effect earlier in that planet's history. However, this wouldn't happen in the short term; what I'm addressing is societal collapse within my lifetime.
:
: : Perhaps you feel differently, although I would find your Christianity a little hollow if you did.
: Too the contrary, it is not my Christianity it is His. It is wholly available to you and everyone else right here and now. I merely attempt to tell you about His joy and happiness.
While remaining oblivious to that fact that some of us are just dandy as we are and don't need to find God to be happy.
(and please don't say "but you can't be truly happy until you find Jee-zuz"; it's not something you can say with any truth.)
:
: : Actually, it's a Christian-originated scare, that; the idea that every barcode has "666" for the Beast on it is a fantasy straight out of Revelations.
: Jesus said, "My Kingdom is not of this world", so I see no need to fret over such a thing regardless of who pedals the fear and under what pretence it is pedaled.
So why did you bring it up in the first place?
: : : 4) Even more fear is spread amongst ozone depletion prophets, animal "rights" rebels, the Y2K crowd, stock market crash consultants, population "time-bomb" tickers and, on and on and on, und so weiter.
: : Good grief; do you have any evidence of reasons to be cheerful about the above subject?!
: What will fear achieve besides enslavement? Joy is in the Holy Spirit!
Did I mention the word "fear"? I'm saying that an appropriate amount of caution needs to be displayed, not just a blind faith.
:
: : Exactly why is it hogwash?
: Fear induced by another man is hogwash. Can you not see that?
See my example on the Christian doctrine of Hell.
Robert, if you wish to hold a rational debate, some attempt to answer questions in a vaguely rational sense is useful.
: : However, I care for others, rather than merely devoting myself selfishly to my own salvation and declaring everyone who doesn't agree with me to be damned and enslaved.
: Enslaved? perhaps. You can be your own judge for that, I'll simply comment on your apparent anxiety and how it has been induced. I too care about others, that is why they need to hear the truth. If I were silent, that would be uncaring. There is no greater Gift that they can recieve than Jesus Christ. God Bless.
Paraphrased, that reads;
"Actually, you're frightened because you know God exists but don't want to admit it, as does everyone else in the world, so it's my duty to God to turn everyone into a Christian so that they can be saved too. Such worldly things like food and freedom and equality are things of this world and thus Unimportant."
Good grief. Are you a missionary, by any chance?
And what reason outside yourself do you have to believe that your truth is any more firm than a Moslem's or a Hindu's?
Gideon.
