Day 273 - 03 Jul 96 - Page 26
way that the original leaflet was in a 3-part foldout it
was just technically a difficult thing to reprint. We
changed to it two A4 sheets folded together which
necessitated adding two extra pages of information. The
first time it was printed it actually, rather than it says
here, that additional page highlighting the way cattle are
slaughtered, the first edition we did highlighted the waste
of grain involved in cattle production. I think it had the
headline "fat cattle and hungry children." So it was just
that additional page was slightly different than stated
here, but the rest of the leaflet was exactly identical to
the London Greenpeace fact sheet.

Q. If we go to tab 208 in the defendants' original list of
documents, I do not know if you have that in front of you
there. I do not know what the volume is.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is 6 and it is on the table next to you
already, Mr. Smith.
A. Yes, sorry.

MR. MORRIS: If you put that next to the one in front of you.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is an 8, right at the back. It does not
have the 20?
A. I have got it.

Q. If you turn it over. What I suggest, you turn a few sheets
over around the ring binder at a time until you get to it?
A. Right.

MR. MORRIS: If we look at the front of the four pages of 208,
is this it, it has got on the front page -- well, it is
"What is wrong with McDonald's. Everything they do not
want you to know." It has got a date June 1987?
A. Yes.

Q. These four pages, is this the original Veggies reprint of
the London Greenpeace fact sheet with the additional--
A. Yes, I believe this is the way it was first reprinted
by Veggies.

Q. Right. And can we say that it is word-for-word identical
in every respect to the London Greenpeace fact sheet with
the additional parts?
A. That is right, yes. There is the two pages added on
and also on the bottom of what is here shown as the second
sheet, "at last a healthy, humane alternative, please read
on." That would have been added by Veggies because the way
the leaflet was put together that would then turn the page
and read about Veggies on the other side, which would have
been the back page.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So it did have the "who made this leaflet"
box, with the London Greenpeace group in it?
A. That is right. As it is there, yes.

MR. MORRIS: Actually, I have done a copy of it as it would have
been at the time -- well, actually Patrick did this. Can I
just hand one up to the Judge? (Same handed) It is just a
