Day 273 - 03 Jul 96 - Page 05

MR. RAMPTON: I put it like this; if we win this action, we
should be perfectly content with that, I am sure. The idea
we should go and sue some photocopying firm in Caledonian
       Road --

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am only talking about '89 and '90. I was
not making any inquiry at the present day.

MR. RAMPTON: No, but it is a very long time ago, and such a
distribution or publication by the copier is now, I would
       have said, wholly insignificant.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Well, there we are.

MR. RAMPTON: Mr. Gravett, could you lay your hands on the pink
       1A, please?
       A. Yes.

  Q. And please turn to tab 68.

MS. STEEL: Can I just ask, I mean, the matter that has just
been raised, I am a bit concerned. I think it ought to be,
I do not know, but I do not see it would have made any
difference whatsoever to the witness' answer.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It may not do and I was at pains to point out
that Mr. Rampton has been content with the answer which Mr.
Gravett gave, that photocopying, if required, was done at a
number of places locally. Mr. Rampton did not go on to
ask, as he might have done, which places locally, and
therefore Mr. Gravett was not asked to answer that
       question.

  MS. STEEL: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am not urging Mr. Rampton to ask the
question and I am certainly not going to speculate about
what Mr. Gravett would say if he was asked it. It merely
triggered something in my mind as to what might happen when
you and Mr. Morris give evidence. That is all.

  MS. STEEL: Okay.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So I am not making any sinister inference
       from it.

  MS. STEEL: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have to say it would be perfectly
understandable if you had put the question and Mr. Gravett
was reluctant to answer it. It would be perfectly
understandable. We never reached that stage. So there we
       are. Yes?

MR. RAMPTON: I am sorry --

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Pink 1A, tab?

MR. RAMPTON: -- I did not understand what Mr. Brinley-Codd has
just sent me. She has sent me a note saying what I have
