Day 259 - 10 Jun 96 - Page 17

Q. Right. If you look at another picture, there is one with
Paul Gravett on, with a cross on him, if you can see it.
I am not sure. It is one of the two pictures with him on.
A. There is something written underneath. I cannot see
what it says.

Q. Can you see a cross?
A. I cannot see a cross on that one. I can see something
has been written on the back of the photograph, but
I cannot make it out.

Q. I do not know if you want to show them to the judge? You
note that the actual folders they are in, it has the names,
the same names as on the pictures that are on the paper
folder that they are in?
A. Sorry? Say that again.

Q. The file -----
A. The page, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let me have a look at them.

MR. MORRIS: It seems that some kind of package was sent to
somebody with crosses on?
A. I do not know. (Handed to the learned judge)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Thank you.

MR. MORRIS: If I can have them back, please?

Can we go to the letter of 19th October 1989 which was
disclosed a couple of days ago, or something? I do not
know whether the witness has it. This is the one that we
asked for last time we were in court -- it must have been
disclosed yesterday -- the letter to the security firms
from Mrs. Brinley-Codd, sending photographs to the firms.
If you note on this, they are identical letters, one to
Hartley's, one to -- I cannot read it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is this copy for me?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, yes.

MR. MORRIS: Westall Services, which is Bishops. It says:

"Dear Mr. Hartley" -- this is the one to Kings --
"I enclose some photographs, together with a report made
by Terry Carroll of McDonald's security department,
following a demonstration by London Greenpeace on
16th October outside the Head Offices of McDonald's in
East Finchley."

So that report would have been the one that we have seen
already from Terry Carroll?
A. Yes, I take it, unless he did another one.

Q. "Paul Gravett seemed to the ring leader of the group, and he
is identified in the photographs by means of a cross at the
back of the photograph."
