Day 255 - 23 May 96 - Page 06

       A. Yes.

  Q. This does not appear to have stemmed from the
       London Greenpeace literature, does it?
       A. I have no idea where they got their information from.

  Q. Right, but it has certainly gone into a lot greater depth,
even if you just look at the length of it, than the
London Greenpeace. There are about 2 paragraphs on working
for McDonald's in the London Greenpeace fact sheet,
       I think.
       A. Well, yes, I cannot remember. It certainly went into a
great more detail than the London Greenpeace document did
       on employment matters.

  Q. So it appears that they did their own research and got
their own information from other sources than
       London Greenpeace?
       A. I cannot really answer that; I do not know.

MR. MORRIS: Can we just can say that Harriet Lamb has been in
court and she gave evidence to that effect. It was not
       challenged by ----

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord this is all ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Obviously I may be able to draw inferences
for myself from looking at the documents. If Mr. Nicholson
has some special information, then you will hope that he
will divulge it in answer to that kind of question, but if
he says "I cannot say", unless you have some specific point
to put to him, I suggest you just leave it there and it is
then a matter of comment and you will say "it does not look
at all like London Greenpeace". It is just a question of
how far the particular witness can take matters.

MS. STEEL: This was the one that you got information from the
Economic League about, was it not?
       A. I certainly got information from the Economic League
       about it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: About the leaflet?
       A. About the pamphlet. It was glossy. It was an
extremely well produced publication, and I certainly did
get some information from the Economic League about them.

MS. STEEL: Right. You do not remember whether it was the
Economic League that you got the pamphlet from in the first
place, or whether it was just that you asked the Economic
League to investigate them after you got the pamphlet?
       A. I am not sure. It stemmed from The Guardian article.
The Guardian reproduced parts of this pamphlet before it
       was actually released.

  Q. Right. The Guardian article is the one in the next tab,
       tab 4.
       A. Yes, because it is the same two people who co-authored
       the Transnational Information Exchange, Transnational
Information Centre Limited Magazine, which is working for
Big Mac. They were the authors of that. They were also
