Day 250 - 15 May 96 - Page 43

  Q. You can see all kinds of, like... I do not know, big
McDonald's signs and advertising things, or something,
       through the window?
       A. No, that is Hamburger University.

  Q. Right. So have I got the wrong ----
       A. That is the right place, yes, that is Hamburger
       University.

  Q. That entrance there was where you were handed a copy?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Of the leaflet?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Right. That was by a man?
       A. Yes.

  Q. What did you do with that copy of the leaflet?
       A. Right. I went back in my office, got my briefcase, put
the leaflet in the briefcase, went and got my car, came
out. The next day, I believe it was the next day,
Mrs. Brinley-Codd came to the office and I handed her the
leaflet. To my memory she put the leaflet in a plastic
       folder.

  Q. Did you used to hand her the other leaflets that were
collected on demonstrations as well, or was it like a
       one-off incident?
       A. I am not sure whether I handed Mrs. Brinley-Codd the
one in '87, that may have gone to Ian Jenkins or Gary
Freer. They were, at that time, handling ----

  Q. But, presumably, you were handing them to Barlow Lyde &
Gilbert; it was standard practice for you to hand them?
       A. Yes, and tell them what I had seen and what I thought
       had gone on.

  Q. It was standard practice for you to hand over any leaflets
that had been obtained on protests outside the Head Office?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Did you ever make a note on the leaflet, this leaflet that
you handed on this day, saying what time you had picked it
       up?
       A. No. Do not forget, I was not getting evidence. At
least, I did not think I was getting evidence to bring to
       court. I was just observing.

  Q. Did you give her all the leaflets that were picked up on
       that day?
       A. I did not have them, Terry Carroll did, they eventually
went to Barlow Lyde & Gilbert but I am not sure when.

  Q. Was it just one?
       A. I handed the one leaflet I had been handed.

  Q. But other people... Well, we know from Mr. Carroll, gave
       him other leaflets?
       A. Yes, that was Mr. Gareth Jones.
