MR. JUSTICE BELL: It seems to me it is unlikely he will come
now. If he comes this afternoon we will see if we cannot
hear his evidence, but otherwise I suggest you get in touch
with him as soon as you can and fix another day in the
schedule.

MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What should we allow for Mr. Brett, half a
day?

MR. RAMPTON: At the most, yes; it would be sensible to allow
that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Allow him a little extra in chief. It seems
to me it is preferable if he can come to start at 10.30,
but if he can fit in an afternoon you can probably get him
in there. Yes?

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness): You said that by around about
the middle of 1990, Juneish, you said the purpose of this
meeting was not to test the strength of the case, to see if
it will stand up, and by that time did you feel then you
had enough information to mount a court case?
A. In the middle of June, no.

Q. You did not feel you had enough information?
A. We did not.

Q. Right.

MS. STEEL: Why was that?
A. Sorry?

Q. Why was that, while I am looking for another file?
A. I took advice from our solicitors. They said "We are
not ready yet".

Q. Yes. If you could -- I do not know whether this is in the
bundles -----?
A. Am I finished with this one?

Q. Probably, for the time being. Maybe if you put it on the
table.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is the document you want?

MS. STEEL: If I just hand it up, because the thing is it is a
letter that I wrote asking for some information. It is a
letter dated -- well, I will read it out so everyone knows
what it is.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What is the date?

MS. STEEL: It is a letter from me dated 6th October, 1993. It
says, "We request copies of the following documents
relating to the issue of publication", and then there is a
long list of documents. At No 16 there are the letters
