27 to it. I will just read your letter that you wrote --
28 I cannot remember -- yes, it arrived 2nd December 1993 to

31 "Dear Sir, I am prepared to verify the statement I gave to
32 the Industrial Tribunal Commission on 9th January 1991
33 concerning my dismissal from McDonald's Restaurant Plc.
34 Before my claim came to tribunal, McDonald's settled,
35 offering me a £750 cash payment and a new contract. Yours
36 faithfully, Mike Logan." Then the tribunal letter which
37 you verify. Those documents are the documents from the
38 tribunal, are they?

44 Q. If I just read that, 1546 and 7 -- I think that is the
45 relevant part: "At the beginning of October I told Jane
46 Jarvis, Store Manager of McDonald's Bath, that I was
47 starting to look for another job. We both agreed that when
48 I found another job I would give her my notice to quit.

50 On 3rd November, after missing my shift the previous day,
51 I was told by my flatmate, who also worked for McDonald's
52 Restaurants, that I would be sacked unless I rang the Store
53 Manager. I tried to contact her but she was unavailable.

55 On 4th November, I managed to contact the Store Manager who
56 told me that I had given my notice, that I was resigning.
57 I felt I had no choice but to accept the statement - as
58 I needed a reference from her for future job applications.

60 Several weeks later I received a letter from my local
