28 MR. MORRIS: Did you work at any job before you worked for
29 McDonald's for any significant amount of time?
30 A. What is a significant amount of time?

32 Q. Well, more than a couple of weeks.
33 A. Yes.

35 Q. What was your job before?
36 A. I have held many different jobs, whether it be
37 part-time or full-time, over a span of probably six years,
38 before having started work with McDonald's as a student,
39 anything from working in a supermarket to working as a
40 labourer on a building site or with somebody who built
41 extensions.

43 Q. Do you remember an incident in 1987, around 87/88, in
44 Ipswich when somebody was almost crushed by a lift at the
45 Ipswich store?
46 A. I recall some of the details of the incident, yes.

48 Q. Somebody was working underneath the lift shaft, at the
49 bottom of the lift shaft, clearing out rubbish, and
50 somebody started the lift; and you, I think, rushed to the
51 lift and stopped it from -----
52 A. No, I did not. I was not working. I was on holiday
53 that week. I was not involved in the incident.

55 Q. You just heard about the incident?
56 A. Correct. I worked in the restaurant. When I returned
57 from holiday I found out about the incident.
