Q. What, a continuous -----
A. Yes.

Q. At the same place or ---
A. No.

Q. -- I meant not at this farm?
A. No, at that farm.

Q. But when you were filming from day one to slaughter, you
went back to the same farm continuously?
A. No, it was before that, a while ago, a different farm.

Q. But the same throughout, the same different ----
A. Yes, the same particular batch of chicks right the way
through from day one, right the way through to the final
day.

MS. STEEL: I do not think I have any further questions.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you. Can I just ask how many disabled
chickens, including those which were moribund, were there
altogether?
A. There were just too many to say. The ones I managed to
film are the ones that were in a clearing.

Q. The ones which?
A. In a clearing.

Q. Yes, well, I saw that.
A. There were too many to say. Everywhere I looked there
were chickens with grotesque deformities and chickens that
could not walk, unable to drag themselves.

Cross-Examined by Mr. Rampton Q.C.

Q. Miss Watkins, 10th September 1995 was a Sunday, was it not?
A. Yes.

Q. It would appear from the film, at least, you were there for
about a quarter of an hour?
A. Yes.

Q. Did you have the permission of the farmer?
A. No, I did not.

Q. He did not know you were there?
A. No.

Q. The shed, I think, was unlocked; you just walked in and
took the film?
A. I just walked in and took the film. The door was
unlocked.

Q. Did you tell the farmer afterwards you had phoned the vet?
A. The vet told the farmer.

Q. So the farmer did not know that the vet was coming?
A. There was nobody there to tell.
