Day 173 - 16 Oct 95 - Page 09

Q. What happened in 1976?
A. I resigned my position with the Company and returned to
Ireland, having negotiated a franchise agreement from
McDonald's to open in Dublin.

Q. Is that the one which you now own through Pantry
Franchises?
A. That is correct.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You are Irish by origin, are you, Mr. Mehigan?
A. Yes, my Lord, yes.

MR. RAMPTON: I should, in fact, just ask you this: how old
were you when you emigrated to Canada?
A. I was, I think, about 25.

Q. One final question, Mr. Mehigan, and then I will sit down.
During your time working for McDonald's in various guises,
capacities, from 1969 to 1976, did you encounter any
industrial or labour relations problems?
A. No.

Q. Did you have any experience during those years of dealing
with trade unions?
A. No.

Q. Thank you. You have made a statement for these
proceedings?
A. Yes, correct.

Q. Would you like to please see if you can find behind you a
yellow labelled file with XIII on it?
A. Yes.

Q. Could you please turn to tab 41?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have put mine in yellow X as divider 19,
because I was told that was where it would go when
Mr. Mehigan was called and I had an empty tab 19 already
waiting for it.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, we will move the witness one in due
course.

(To the witness) Can you look at that? Has it got your
name on the top? It is easier if you put it on the shelf
in front of you, the railing.
A. Yes, that is correct.

Q. If you look at the last page, which I hope has page 14 at
the top, is there a signature on that last page or not?
A. Yes.

Q. Whose signature is that?
A. It is my signature.

Q. Have you read this statement again recently?
A. Yes, I have.
