Day 169 - 04 Oct 95 - Page 09
right.

Q. McDonald's food?
A. That is right.

Q. Were they not at work at the time?
A. No, they had finished work. I believe they had both
been on the day shift and they were working -- it was
mid-evening this occurred.

Q. So that would have been a couple of hours after their shift
had finished?
A. Oh, yes. I mean, they had gone out. They had been in
town, they had gone for a drink or whatever, and then come
back in. They had gone home, finished work, got changed,
etc.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So all four were dismissed over the food and
the first two were reported to the Police over the locker
forcing?
A. Over the burglary, yes.

MS. STEEL: When you were talking about getting grades from the
Head Office audits, you said that each time you got a low
grade you got an action plan and acted accordingly. Where
was the action plan from?
A. We have formulated the action plan within the store.

Q. With input from the Supervisor?
A. Occasionally, but it would normally be the Store
Manager. We would call a Managers' meeting and we would
discuss it and we would come up with an action plan.

Q. Would any checks be made subsequently to find out whether
or not your action plan was sufficient to rectify -----
A. We would set ourselves some targets and if it was
thought necessary, perhaps, the Supervisor would set some
targets and they would have dates attached, or they would
-- it would depend on what the action plan was referring
to.

Q. Just a couple of questions about the grease trap: You said
it probably breaks once a week or a fortnight?
A. You are referring to the grease trough?

Q. The grease trough, sorry.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What do you mean by "break"? You said it was
made of rigid steel.
A. The problem occurs from the fact that when you move the
grills, if you do not move the grease trough properly
first, then you will split the grease trough.

Q. What, down the seam or down the corner?
A. Yes, down the seams, so we will -----

Q. In the corner of the trough, you mean?
A. That is right, so we would have to get it rewelded or
we would have to order a new trough.
