Day 153 - 12 Jul 95 - Page 15

  Q. Not every day?
       A. Not every day, no.

  Q. How many hours did you work?
       A. Possibly 50.

  Q. 50?
       A. It varied between -- about 50 was probably the average.

  Q. The store was open how many hours a day?
       A. I believe it was open from 10 in the morning through 11
at night, actually operating at that time.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: On a normal day, not one where you were
having a night clean, what time did the first crew come in
       and the last crew leave?
       A. 8 o'clock in the morning, and then the crew at night
would leave when they had finished clearing up, which
usually was between 12 and half past 1.

MR. MORRIS: According to Mr. Gibney, who was responsible for
scheduling, he says, some of the time, on Friday and
Saturday it actually started at 7?
       A. I would dispute that.

  Q. Whether it started at 7 or not?
       A. Yes. I would not say that was -- as I remember, we
started at 8, because we did not open until 10, and two
hours was quite sufficient to get the store open.

  Q. Even on a Saturday or a Friday?
       A. It did not really take any longer on a Friday or a
Saturday to open the store than on a normal day.

  Q. Let us just say it was 8 until half 12, or something, until
       1 o'clock?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Something like 17 hours, nearly 17 hours a day, seven days
       a week?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is about 120 hours a week?
       A. Sure.

MR. MORRIS: So you were only present in the store for less than
half the time; do you accept that?
       A. I would accept that, yes.

  Q. When you were in the store, presumably, you had all sorts
of things to think about -- you were the Manager, yes --
you have to get everything -----
       A. Yes.

  Q. No doubt. The shift managers, if somebody is working on a
station and, for whatever reason, you need more people to
stay on after the shift is finishing, there is a shift
manager, is there, that could say to someone: "Would you
like to work on longer", is there?
       A. On each shift, there was somebody who was accountable
       for that shift, so they would be the shift running manager;
