MR. MORRIS: I am just trying to sort our papers out. Thank you
for the delay.

There is something, while I am sorting my papers out. It
was suggested that we provide copies of the letters we have
sent to Barlow Lyde and Gilbert, which I have done. I do
not know when your transcript file ceased to have our
letters in it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I think you should do -- I have not
marked it, and I do not mind you having it -- is take my
bundle of correspondence and look at it and put into it ---

MR. MORRIS: All right, OK.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: -- any copies of letters which you have
written. Is that a bundle of them that you have there?

MR. MORRIS: That is it, basically.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I suggest you do is, for the time being,
give that bundle to Mrs. Brindley-Codd, so she can just
check through it and make sure there is nothing in it which
should not go into the correspondence bundle which I am
going to read.

MR. MORRIS: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Assuming she takes no exception to any
letters going in, ask Mr. Riley to get my correspondence
bundle, I will put it out here, and insert them in in their
chronological place.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. If that be the case, then I think the
Plaintiffs should hereafter submit letters that they are
going to put in to us before they are given to -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Very well, yes. Actually, you know, I do
not think that is necessary. There is no harm in me seeing
any letter; and unless I give an example, there are some
letters which should not go into a judge's bundle -- I am
not suggesting it is this case -- but if they refer to any
kind of negotiation, the judge should not see them. Now,
I am prepared absolutely to trust Mrs. Brindley-Codd as to
that. She knows what should go in and what should not.
You are not legally qualified, and, with the best will in
the world, you might not appreciate what ought not to go
in, if anything. For that reason, I think all you should
do is show them to Mrs. Brindley-Codd, so that she can make
sure it is all right for them to go in. I do not think you
need vet hers. You can assume that anything which is
written to you and has "cc" and my name on it, I am going
to get a copy of it.

MS. STEEL: I think there have been other ones that have gone
in. For example, we do remember last year there was an
attendance note that went in which we had not seen.
