property was taken there was no action by the authorities?"

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I had not taken that as a direct challenge.

MR. RAMPTON: Then I am content and if Mr. Morris is content
that he has not challenged it, that is perfectly all right
       with me.

MR. MORRIS: If I could just deal with one matter fairly
briefly, hopefully? The dispute over Freshco ---
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- in the Salinas Valley, lettuce and the United Farm
       Workers Union?
       A. Yes.

  Q. How long did you spend trying to resolve this dispute? Did
it go on over a long period of time or what?
       A. No, it did not. I took a trip out to the Salinas
Valley and, all told, because it is the West Coast, in
flying time, I actually spent probably almost a full day
there, but it takes travel time back and forth. Then
I invited Mr. Bruce Church to my office for probably about
-- we probably had about a three or four hour meeting.
Other than that, it would be some telephone calls, so
I think you can add it up from there.

  Q. After you met with the person from Bruce Church, he flew
       over to Oak Brook?
       A. That is correct.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: When you say, it was Bruce Church himself,
the eponymous Bruce Church, was it?
       A. Yes, I am not sure of your term.

  Q. That means that the name of the firm is the name of the
       man.
       A. Yes, there is a Bruce Church senior and Bruce Church
       junior, my Lord.

MR. MORRIS: We might as well get it right which one it was.
       A. Junior.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Anyway, it was the Bruce Church, one of the
       Bruce Church's?
       A. As the principal owner of that company.

MR. MORRIS: This was around 1983 and 1984, yes? It is probably
accepted; I cannot remember, I have not got the witness
       statement.
       A. Yes, and I am trying to pour through my mind.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is put as 83 to 84.

MR. MORRIS: Would you accept it is around that time?
       A. I would accept it is around that time.

  Q. You demanded that Bruce Church stop the United Farm Workers
from organising a boycott of McDonald's products?
       A. I do not understand what you have just said. Do you
