Day 141 - 23 Jun 95 - Page 25
A. Very similar, my Lord.

MS. STEEL: For a store of the same size as the one in Mexico?
A. Yes.

Q. What do you say would be the normal complement to have on
their books?
A. Are you talking -----

Q. In the USA?
A. Oh, I just answered that to my Lord. I would say they
would have about the same number of employees.

Q. How many stores in the United States have that complement
of workers?

MR. MORRIS: 125 to 150?
A. I cannot answer that. I do not look at those kinds of
numbers. I do not add that number up. There are almost
10,000 restaurants in the United States, McDonald's
restaurants, and I cannot tell you that. I just do not
know.

MS. STEEL: Were the pay rates in Mexico at the time normal?
A. Yes -- whatever "normal" means.

MR. MORRIS: Sorry to pop up; I was trying to do it through
Helen.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, put it now.

MR. MORRIS: They were, what, typical American pay rates, were
they?
A. No, they were not. They fit into the marketplace in
Mexico City.

Q. Normal for the catering industry in Mexico City?
A. Normal for how the owner/operator or joint venture
partner would go about fixing their rates. They would do
surveys, and then aim for the high end of the survey.

Q. How many union members from CROC did you say turned up at
6 o'clock and surrounded the store?
A. There were two to 300. I did not bother to call them
-- count them, excuse me, but there were a lot of folks
there totally ringed around the parking lot and the
sidewalk, all the way around the building.

Q. Your evidence is that the Police would not come out when
you called them but that the malitia did; is that correct?
A. That is correct.

Q. And accompanied the people from the store out ---
A. That is correct.

Q. -- and then the union took over the building?
A. And the grounds.

Q. And the grounds for three weeks?
A. That is correct.
