employees of that restaurant. Similar to, my Lord, the
United States, where you are in the hands of the local
authorities to tell us what we should do and what we should
not do, and those kinds of things.

MS. STEEL: When were you expecting these new stores to be
       built?
       A. I think I mentioned earlier, we just got into it, that
I expected some stores to open in 1986, but I cannot tell
       you exactly when.

  Q. It would have been a few months after this, at least?
       A. I do not know, because I do not recall. I knew we had
some real estate, but I do not believe that any stores were
under construction, so that it would normally take several
months to be able to open up a new store.

  Q. In the meantime you had hired 200 crew to do the jobs that
normally you would hire 60 for?
       A. Not true. Not true.

  Q. I am pretty certain that is what you said when you were
       giving your evidence in-chief?
       A. Boy! I sure do not recall that. If you are talking
about the average size of crew complement in the US, you
may be close to being right, but in Mexico the average size
       would be over 100 crew.

MR. MORRIS: How many workers are employed in McDonald's stores
       in Mexico?
       A. In the one store in Mexico City?

  Q. No, Mexico as a whole.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Now do you mean?

  MR. MORRIS: Yes, approximately.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Do you know, do your best to give an
estimate, but do not give one if you really do not know at
       all.
       A. Wow! My Lord, my problem is there are different volume
stores, different cities in Mexico; some will have good
volume, some will have lower volume, if you will.
I certainly want to help in moving this along, but it is a
very difficult thing for me to make an estimate.

MS. STEEL: In Mexico, is there a similar rate of part-time
workers to full-time workers as there is in the United
       States?
       A. Yes, there is.

  Q. There is, right. So whether or not it was 60 or something
over 100 -- round about 100, you are saying, is normal or
       what?
       A. I would say over a 100 is normal.

  Q. Right, but what over 100 normally?
       A. That is hard. Again, you have stores that are
       doing -----
