Day 141 - 23 Jun 95 - Page 03
MR. STANLEY RICHARD STEIN, recalled
Cross-examined by the Defendants, continued.

MS. STEEL: One thing to clear up: if you get pink volume XIV,
please?
A. Yes, I have it.

Q. Turn to tab 94, please?
A. Yes.

Q. You did say yesterday that McDonald's prepared this summary
from extracts from their documents -- "their" being TPF&C;
that is correct, is it not?
A. What I have tried to do several times a couple of days
ago, yesterday, and I will try to do again today, that
these are TPF&C's documents and words that we produced from
the TPF&C report. That is what I have been trying to get
across as clearly as possible.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I think it is quite apparent that is
what you have said, Mr. Stein, but now you are going to be
asked some more questions about it.

MS. STEEL: TPF&C did not hand you this document, did they?
A. Yes, they did.

Q. In this form?
A. Yes, they did.

Q. Why did you say yesterday that McDonald's prepared it?
A. If you will look at all the testimony surrounding that,
I was trying to articulate that we produced the document
from the TPF&C reports. If you take a look, I tried to go
back to that several times, and there are many people
interjecting various things. I have tried as best as
I can; and if I have caused some confusion, I apologise,
but I have attempted to articulate it as well as I can in
English and tried to avoid confusion because of my American
English.

Q. You have said as clear as day yesterday that McDonald's
prepared this summary.
A. If you will go on, I think, my Lordship, when we were
trying to get to the bottom of it, and I reviewed the
transcript last night, my Lord -- could I see the
transcript, so that I am not stabbing in the dark here?

MR. RAMPTON: This is rather unfair. It is, again, fairly
selective. I, too, have read the transcript, so I do know
what I am talking about. For example -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No, Mr. Rampton, I am sorry. This is a
cross-examination. By all means in re-examination -- and
I know you have tried to help the court by keeping
re-examination short ---

MR. RAMPTON: Yes, I do.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: -- but I do feel that, with a matter like
this, that is the moment to do it.
