Q. I am asking a question.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It was meant to be a question. Although it
sounds like a statement, the tone of voice was that
Mr. Morris is asking whether that was so.
A. I have stated exactly, to the best of my recollection,
what took place. I think my Lordship can reach his
conclusions from what the facts are.

MR. MORRIS: What disciplinary action did you take against the
manager?
A. It was not a manager.

Q. Sorry, the joint venture partner?
A. There was no need to take -- I took no action. There
was no need to take action. When I got there and I sat
down with him and we had our discussion, he agreed and we
moved on.

Q. When you have a joint venture partner, do you take a
percentage of the profits or a percentage of the sales, or
what; how does it work?
A. The joint venture has whatever profits enure to the
joint venture and we are entitled to a percentage of
whatever that percentage is in the joint venture.

Q. Is that the same with licensees?
A. No. Licensees -- whatever profit enures goes to the
licensee.

Q. The licensees, what do they pay, then, to the McDonald's
Corporation?
A. It depends upon who owns the building and who does not
own the building; and they also pay a service fee of
anywhere from three to four per cent.

Q. Of?
A. Of sales.

Q. Right.
A. That -- let me make sure -- can vary, but I am giving
you a general principle.

Q. The stores in Spain, did you visit many stores at that time
when you went to Madrid for a few days?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I do not know what this has to do with
the case.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What are you going on to now, Mr. Morris?

MR. MORRIS: If he saw the conditions in the stores in Madrid.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, we are on another fishing expedition.

MR. MORRIS: It is not a fishing expedition.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Tell me what it relates to?
