Day 122 - 05 May 95 - Page 16

  Q. Are there any monthly payroll reports at McDonald's?
       A. No, that was a mistake. They are the only ones. They
are fortnightly reports. I think I made that admission in
       my evidence-in-chief.

  Q. Whose mistake was that?
       A. Mine.

  Q. So you did not know what you were checking?
       A. Sorry?

  Q. You did not know what you were monitoring?
       A. No. You have to realise it has been nearly four years
now since I was with Personnel. At the time I made this
statement I said it was a monthly report. It was not until
I checked it, that it brought it forcibly to mind that it
was a fortnightly report. The fault was mine.

  Q. It would have been two years from when you made the
       statement, though?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So were you only monitoring it up until 1991?
       A. Yes, I do not get it now, I have no purpose to get it.

  Q. There are no reports at all that show which staff worked in
excess of 39 hours a week?
       A. No, 78 hours a fortnight.

  Q. So what was in your statement was not true?
       A. Well, to me that indicates 38 hours a week -- 39 hours
a week. I accept you will not accept that, but to me it
       does.

  Q. Who took over monitoring these reports when you stopped?
       A. Well, the same people continued to monitor them.

  Q. The same people.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: People in the same positions, you mean?
       A. Yes, Human Resource -- all Human Resources Officers get
a copy and Operations Managers get a copy. Operations
Managers, I know, send a copy of the relevant store report
to the supervisory staff. That is the monitoring system.

MS. STEEL: You say: "By these monthly reports Operations
Supervisors and Personnel Officers are aware of those
stores which may be working crew in excess of 39 hours, and
will take the necessary steps to correct it if the
occurrence is more than occasional". Is that correct?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So they will not automatically take the steps to correct
the problem or discipline any managers ---
       A. We have already been through -----

  Q. -- unless it was more than occasional -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You have been through this before. In fact
we have been through the matters which you asked your last
