Day 106 - 23 Mar 95 - Page 02
Thursday, 23rd March 1995.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Are you ready to start with Mr. North?

MR. MORRIS: Just about, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The reason I came in, obviously we want to
start as soon as possible, but I would rather, subject to
anything Mr. Rampton wants to say, that you had a few more
minutes now and got yourself organised than have loose ends
which might mean that you did not get out what you wanted
to get out in the order you wanted, and also might mean
that we took longer at the end of the day. So, you must
say what the position is.

MR. MORRIS: I think we will be all right if we could have a
couple of minutes to sort my papers out? There are a
couple of documents we want to serve.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Show them to Mr. Rampton.

MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Explain what they are.

MR. MORRIS: There is an RSPCA press statement regarding
broilers which relates to Miss Druce' evidence, but for
this witness there is a Medicines Act Veterinary
Information Service, some tables on residues in meat which
we may refer to. I suggest they go in our new
supplementary list.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I will put them in the back of your
supplementary bundle V. I will put the Medicines Act
Veterinary Information Service in as 17, and the RSPCA
press release as 18. Do you want Mr. ----

MR. MORRIS: There was another matter regarding documents which
was quite important before Mr. North is called ---

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. MORRIS: -- which was the application for McKey's documents
which -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would rather hear Mr. North's evidence
before I deal with that. It may be that we will have to
break off before it is finished, but before I know whether
those documents have any possible relevance in this case,
I would like to hear what Mr. North has to say about
microbiological testing.

MR. RICHARD ANTHONY EDWARD NORTH, sworn.
Examined by the Defendants.

MR. MORRIS: Mr. North, would you give your address, please?
A. My address is Croft Mill, Sharp Street, Wibsey,
Bradford -- do you want the post code -- West Yorkshire.

Q. Could you briefly summarise your qualifications?
