Day 097 - 06 Mar 95 - Page 21

       20.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would thought it ought to be one. If you
and Ms. Steel can choose between you which one it is?

MR. MORRIS: They can go to my address. It is a plan envelope,
not a Barlow, Lyde & Gilbert envelope.

MR. RAMPTON: I do not know what a Barlow, Lyde & Gilbert
       envelope is.

MR. MORRIS: One that says "Barlow, Lyde & Gilbert".

MR. RAMPTON: Yes. The other thing is, the addressing of the
outward envelope is an entirely mechanical job. I know the
Defendants do have some help. There are people here in
court most days. It is the sort of thing which one could
easily just sit in court doing, in fact.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: However that may be ---

MR. MORRIS: It is little more complicated than that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: -- it does not take very long to address 40
       envelopes.

MR. MORRIS: It is a little bit more complicated because we have
to do a cover note and also some of our witnesses, we ought
to check to see whether they are still at the address.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I would like you to do your very best to get
them all off by the end of next week and then we will come
back to that. In the meantime, before the end of next
week, I will re-read the employment witnesses on both
sides. I think the way to get the schedule I have spoken
of going is for McDonald's to start with their witnesses,
putting in how long they would expect each to take in-chief
on the assumption for the time being that they are going to
be called because the relevant Defence witness or witnesses
       are going to be called.

In a moment I want to go on and look at what the timetable
       is for finishing the evidence.

MS. STEEL: Can I say something?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I see you are standing so I will hear
what you have to say first.

MS. STEEL: We have not seen the timetable that Mr. Rampton has
drawn up so obviously we cannot comment on that except that
       it may be -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have not seen it yet. We are going to come
       to that, I should think.

MS. STEEL: It may be that the tribunal people will not all take
two days each; some of them may, some of them may not.
Mr. Nicholson, as well as being employment, is also
publication. I do not know how long he will take. The
