Day 076 - 18 Jan 95 - Page 44

MR. MORRIS: We were going to ask you to clarify the effect of
your ruling on the slaughterhouse point, not about the
slaughterhouse itself, but the implications of the
counterclaim in your judgment when you made the judgment
about the slaughterhouses issue. It was clarification of
       what the implications were.

The other matter was the system with the documents. That
seems to be improving. Mrs. Brinley-Codd has been working
on that and maybe I should just talk to her about it.

MS. STEEL: I have got some documents to serve for the next
       issue.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I have got those documents and we will
       consider them.

MS. STEEL: There is another document as well which is from when
Sue Dibb was giving evidence. She referred to a survey
that was in The Guardian and I think copies were asked for
       that.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: These can be handed in.

MR. RAMPTON: They do not have to be done in front of your
       Lordship.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. It does not help that I am here. I am
       going to rise now.

MR. RAMPTON: Before your Lordship rises, Mr. North again.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. What is the position about Mr. North?

MR. MORRIS: We left a message on his answer phone last night to
get back as soon as possible. We said we would serve his
statement either today or tomorrow and preferably today.
There were a couple of points we wanted to clarify with
       him.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I remember all that. It is just as well to
mention it to make sure you it have it in hand.

  MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You have half a day which was not scheduled,
though we might have anticipated today would be an early
day, so I just rely on you to concentrate on that.

MR. MORRIS: It will definitely be served tomorrow as we
       promised.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Try to make it early tomorrow because that
gives everyone time to consider it. We will resume at
       10.30 next Wednesday.

(The court adjourned until Wednesday, 25th January 1995)
