Day 068 - 16 Dec 94 - Page 19

  Q. When was that, sorry?
       A. That was Wednesday night.

  Q. That was about conditions at Sun Valley, was it?
       A. I wanted to know -- I remember now, that was the
       electrical stunning.

  Q. You did not speak to anyone in this country about beef?
       A. Throughout this week?

  Q. Yes.
       A. No, I have not.

  Q. These documents that go back to 1954 that Paul Simmons
mentioned, have you seen them, yourself?
       A. Yes. I have said it before that I have seen them.

  Q. Do you know if Mr. Cesca is still in South America?
       A. He is probably in the air right now. He is not in
Central America. Yesterday, I think, he was in Hong Kong.

MR. MORRIS: I am a bit thrown off my course. Maybe I will
       carry on questioning.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can I make a point, when you are looking back
over this evidence? First of all, until you complete your
evidence, whatever you have done so far, do not talk to
anyone about any topic which is to do with the evidence you
       are giving. Do you understand?
       A. Yes, I do.

  Q. Unless you are specifically asked to do so by Mr. Rampton,
Mr. Atkinson or Mrs. Brinley-Codd, because they will only
ask you to make enquiries if it has been cleared that you
       should. Do you understand?

MR. RAMPTON: I should say that nothing was said by me or
Mrs. Brinley-Codd or Mr. Atkinson or anyone else about
Japan, but one of the three categories your Lordship
invited to seek Dr. Gomez Gonzalez's help was documentation
       from Costa Rica.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I am not at the moment making any
criticism, because it seemed to me that some of the
conversations, anyway, were in relation to enquiries which
had to be made; and in so far as conversations may have
gone further, I have no reason to believe that was other
than for purely innocent motives, to find out more about
what actually had happened. But I am merely underlining,
from now on, only on topics which Mr. Rampton,
Mr. Atkinson, Mrs. Brinley-Codd, and I will add Mr. Hill,
as well (all of whom are qualified lawyers in this country)
ask you to find out about.

THE WITNESS: I understand, your Lordship.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If Ms. Steel or Mr. Morris say: "Will you be
kind enough to try and find out about this", again, you can
make an enquiry, but restrict it to those topics.
