as myself. They would ask me: "Would it be OK, would you
have any concerns, would you have any problems if we move
this particular product?" For us there has never been, as
far as I have been with the company, I have never even
heard or even discussed the possibility of moving or
exporting live cattle in any country in which I operate.

  Q. So what about other types of beef, slaughtered beef?
       A. Yes, we do move, import or export boneless meat in some
areas of the world. We also move finished patties,
manufacturer of beef patties in some areas of the world.

  Q. Would you move any other type of meat apart from boneless
       and patties?
       A. You are talking about beef, right?

  MR. MORRIS: Yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It could only be carcasses, if it was not
boneless meat or patties, could it not?
       A. It could be. I have not been requested or even
discussed the possibility of moving product that has a
boning, as we call it, in a carcass. We have not moved
that. As far as I am concerned, I have not even been
requested, any possible exportation of carcasses of beef.

MR. MORRIS: Every importation has to go through you, does it?
       A. Not every one.

  Q. Or just the countries concerned?
       A. Not every one. We have people with similar
qualifications that I have around the world. We have
discussed previously Mr. Paul Simmons. He has equal
responsibilities and roles and responsibilities. It will
depend on who has more knowledge on that particular subject
or who has the time, sometimes, to be involved in that
project. No one person can do everything.

  Q. So carcasses, as far as you know, is not done. Apart from
boneless and patties, there is no other type, then, that
       you are aware of?
       A. As far as I know, no.

  Q. When you say "local product should be used as far as
       possible", that is your policy?
       A. Yes; and it is left at the discretion of the country
purchasing manager or local management or zone management.

  Q. So do you have any conditions on the waiving of that
policy? When you say discretion of zone or country
manager, then they have a wide discretion, do they?
       A. A wide -----

  Q. A wide discretion?
       A. Yes, they do.

  Q. So, in reality, that policy may not be enforced?
       A. Let me clarify that point. That is our policy as much
as possible. It is with the understanding that it is not a
requirement, that it is not a "must". So, taking that into
