Day 068 - 16 Dec 94 - Page 06
MR. JUSTICE BELL: It may be, but in this case, all I would like
is some notice of what the topic is. If, when the argument
is raised, either side is embarrassed by lack of warning,
then I will give appropriate time to consider the
position. It does not matter whether the topic is raised
by Ms. Steel, Mr. Morris or you, Mr. Rampton.

MS. STEEL: I would point out that Mr. Rampton raised this in
the first place without giving us any notice about it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Is there anything else of substance which
need be dealt with now?

MR. RAMPTON: No, there is not.

DR. GOMEZ GONZALES, recalled
Cross-examination by the Defendants, continued

MR. MORRIS: Did you have a chance to talk to Mr. Cesca in the
last couple of days about documents?
A. No, I have not.

Q. Could you explain what the policy is of McDonald's
Corporation on the import and export of beef between
countries?
A. We have a policy that we will source local products --
beef, in this case -- as much as we can. We have a policy
that if a product is going to be exported, it will be by
McDonald's approval from the supplier exporting to any
other country in which the supply will be directly to
another McDonald's supplier.

Q. Approval by who, sorry?
A. By the country purchasing manager.

Q. Of the country buying it or the country selling it?
A. Of the country which will receive the material. We
have, part of our process, we have a communication process
in which the countries, the local countries, will
communicate through our zones areas. We have, within
McDonald's ----

Q. Say that again?
A. Let me finish, please.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You are quite right that you should not be
interrupted, but I think all Mr. Morris was doing, because
he did not follow what you were saying, was asking you to
say it again and then carry on, so that he makes sure he
understands.

MR. MORRIS: We do not have to have a battle. I would like you
to say what you want to say. Sometimes it needs
clarification, and sometimes a point comes up that you have
raised while you are talking I just want you to expand upon
a bit, so we do not have to come back to it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That is all it was. It was not intended as
an interruption.
