has used beef imported from rainforest countries."

So that is not true then, is it? You have used beef from
       rainforests countries in the UK?
       A. Not from a rainforest area.

  Q. No, but from a rainforest country?
       A. From South America, yes.

  Q. From a rainforest country -- Brazil?
       A. Yes, but it is a huge country. The rainforest is a
       small proportion of it.

  Q. Mr. Rampton was not right when he said "never used beef
       imported from a rainforest country"?
       A. OK. I would have preferred "rainforest area".

  Q. That is something which we found out by accident. That has
dealt with that subject. I do not know whether that might
       be a good time?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will resume at 2 o'clock.

                        (Luncheon adjournment)
                                                    2.00 p.m..

MR. MORRIS: Just a couple of questions: Are you aware that
McDonald's are calling a witness about the use of soya feed
       in Germany of McDonald's cattle?
       A. No, I am not aware.

  Q. Dr. Hans Schumm(?). Have you heard of him?
       A. I have not, no.

  Q. You are, presumably, aware of the claims and controversy in
Germany over the sources of the soya feed in Germany for
       cattle feed?
       A. To be honest with you, I have not heard much about it.
I have heard little bits of information but nothing
       specifically, no.

  Q. If I said the controversy is over the sources of the soya,
whether it is from rainforest countries or not (and I think
McDonald's have claimed from their statement it is from
Argentina and USA, the soya feed that is relevant,
Dr. Hans Schumm), what is McDonald's policy, as you
understand it, or is there a policy on the use of soya
       feed?
       A. McDonald's UK? I cannot speak for Germany as I am not
aware of the situation or the witness you have just
mentioned. In the UK we do not have a direct policy on
       soya feed.

  Q. So if McDonald's cattle, or cattle that are destined for
McDonald's, are consuming some soya amounts, whether it is
in UK or Denmark or Germany, you would not have any kind of
policy on sources of that soya?
       A. Not a policy, no.

  Q. What do you have apart from a policy then? Do you have any
