Day 063 - 07 Dec 94 - Page 25

  Q. But the suppliers have not said: "Oh, there is no need to
worry about that; none of us are using chlorine bleaching.
We switched from that ages ago anyway". It is being looked
       into?
       A. It is being looked into, yes.

MR. MORRIS: Do you know roughly, not to the month but roughly,
       when Enso-Gutzeit stopped using chlorine?
       A. No.

  Q. They now use elementary -- sorry, a derivative?
       A. I thought they used mixes based on whatever the
supplier -- the customer, requires. It depends on the
whiteness required. At this point in time chlorine or
chlorine based bleaching still gets the whitest results.

  Q. McDonald's has not got a specification on that? Say, for
example, Enso-Gutzeit would be asked to look into
       alternatives to its ---
       A. As I said earlier ---

  Q. -- use?
       A. -- we are testing with alternatives and Enso-Gutzeit is
involved in that, but I am not aware of the exact results
because that has not been a project of mine.

  Q. So the produce for McDonald's of Enso-Gutzeit at the moment
       still uses chlorine derivatives?
       A. I think they still use ---

  Q. In general?
       A. -- various mixes. I would not know exactly which.

  Q. The last thing is just the documents that we were given --
if I could just whip through this quickly? This is
       transport packaging, is it not?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: How many bundles of copies are there?

THE WITNESS: Could I have my copy back because I had it
       earlier.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If there is one for me and one for Mr. Van
Erp? I think there is just room for them in the back of
       the bundle, yellow III.

MR. MORRIS: Yellow III. Behind Mr. Van Erp?

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. MORRIS (To the witness): Just very briefly, this describes
transport packaging, does it not, not the individual items?
       A. No, as I explained yesterday, the first part of the
       table explains the packaging itself.

  Q. Yes.
       A. The packaging item description refers to the packaging
item itself, i.e. a cup for a McNugget box in my top page.
Then the second part of the table is the actual transport
packaging description and the third part is the pallet
