document, which is at the very back, then the one in front
       of that is ------

  THE WITNESS: I have it.

MR. MORRIS: This is from the Daily Express, 2nd November 1990.
Just very quickly read through that.
       A. OK.

  Q. So, really, I think the important paragraph is the one on
the right-hand side, right-hand column, quote from the
London office, or an alleged quote from the London office.
This is after the American pull out from styrofoam use, was
       it not?
       A. Yes.

  Q. "'We will try to follow suit just as quickly as we can',
said the London Office. 'The decision was taken in America,
and it is certainly our intention to abide by it'".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Read the paragraph ahead, that "the decision
taken of the company's Illinois headquarters left the rest
of the gigantic chain somewhat bemused". Then there is the
quote which Mr. Morris has put to you. Can you remember
       anything about that?
       A. I can remember it left us somewhat bemused and, as
I said earlier, there were discussions with Lin Pac on
should we follow suit. We subsequently decided (and it may
well have been after these statements), but we subsequently
decided that there was no need to follow suit because we
did not have a landfill problem.

MR. MORRIS: Do you happen to know if a press release was put
out at this time to that effect, or was it just a quote
       from the London office?
       A. I am sorry, I was not involved with communications in
       1990.

  Q. I think we can move on from this subject, except I will ask
you one question. You can put the documents away, thank
you. Corrugated packaging for transport. When did
       McDonald's start to recycle that?
       A. Oh, you mean recycle it through paper recycling plants,
       you are talking, are you?

  Q. If that is what you do, yes?
       A. We do not actually recycle anything.

  Q. No, I know you do not do it yourself.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think Mr. Morris, when he says talk about
you recycling, means, put it on the way to be recycling, do
       not just bin it?
       A. Through suppliers.

MR. MORRIS: If I said 1991 would that be accurate?
       A. I am really not sure.

  Q. Do you know what time it was, approximately?
       A. No, I am afraid I do not. I am really not sure on that
