    12        counter notice, again I observe that what is contained in
    13        this statement and the article to which it refers is not
    14        evidence -- the Defendants should understand that.  Until
    15        Mr. Harris comes to court and proves it to your Lordship's
    16        satisfaction, it is not evidence.

    26        the Financial Times about an article he wrote in December
    27        1990.  If you look on the second page there is a copy of
    28        the International Edition Report (which is longer than the
    29        UK edition, which is over the page).  If you just read that
    30        to yourself, the page 2, yes?

    36   Q.   On the front page he says that was based on an interview
    37        you had with Paul Preston the day before?
    38        A.  Yes, I see that.

    40   Q.   Just on the accuracy of that, is there anything in that
         which is inaccurate?
    42        A.  I am not aware of this report.  I have never seen it
    43        before.  I am not aware of it.

    46        (which you may or not know the answer to) is that
    47        Mr. Preston said that McDonald's restaurants in the UK had
    48        this plan?
    49        A.  It says here he said that.

    52        were plans to that effect, this is 14th December 1990? 
    53        A.  I have only ever heard in very brief outline form that
    54        some scheme may be considered.  I have never seen anything
    55        like the detail that is shown here in this article.
