       A. In 1984.

  Q. In 1984. Was there any other caterer or restaurant
business or hotel business or grocer in this country doing
that sort of thing at that time?
       A. Not to my knowledge.

  Q. Now turn over, please -- keep your finger in No. 3 -- to
No. 4 which we see is a similar looking thing dated March
1985 and then to tab 5 which is again a similar looking
document, I do not say it is identical by any means but it
looks similar, for October 1985, yes?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Were these documents, "Good Food, Nutrition and McDonald's"
available in the store or how could a person get hold of
       one otherwise if not?
       A. These were available in the restaurants, yes.

  Q. These were?
       A. Yes.

  Q. "Good Food, Nutrition and McDonald's"?
       A. Yes.

MS. STEEL: Can I just say, I thought that was a bit of a
       leading question actually.

MR. RAMPTON: Perhaps it does not matter very much.

MS. STEEL: Perhaps it does; perhaps that is why you did it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you object to a question as being leading,
then stand up as it is asked and say so.

MS. STEEL: It was too late. I said that straight after.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Stand up quickly and do it. What I would
suggest is that you do not do it just for the sake of doing
it, but only when you think that some particular harm is
       going to come from it.

MS. STEEL: I did think on that occasion that it mattered.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It would matter if you thought that the
witness would not have come to the same answer, either
because he was not prepared to tell the truth or he did not
know whether these items were issued in McDonald's
restaurants, having worked in the position he had worked in
for six or seven years by then.

MS. STEEL: I think it did matter but -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, there you are; if that is your position,
so be it. If you think that a leading question is going to
do harm, then stand up and object. Remember, that if
objection is taken on both sides this case will grind even
more slowly than it has done already.

  MS. STEEL:  Yes.  I am not making this just for the sake of it;
